More information: “In 2009, the Camenae Collective gave a breathtaking concert in the Chamber Music Podium serie, combining Schubert’s Octet with Gubaidulina’s Homage a TSE. These two composers are also juxtaposed this time. Rejoice !, a sonata for violin and cello, gives voice to – according to Gubaidulina – mankind’s passionate effort to rise above this terrestrial world. Then we will hear the beautiful string quintet by Schubert, one of his last and most well-loved compositions. It is a broadly drawn-out work highlighting the two sides of beauty: the sublime and at the same time its tragic unattainability. A monumental finale to the season!” Muziekkamer Assen.
