Roots is a tribute to the background of the ensemble and the artists involved
Hans van Eck’s Herinnering commemorates Schreck’s co-founder Arie van Schutterhoef. Roderick de Man’ composition ‘Siamo Sardi’ is inspired by the birth island of the ensemble’s violinist (Sardinia) and one of its most important writers: Grazia Deledda (The first Italian woman to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1926.)
In ‘Sofia’, composer Aspasia Nasopoulou refers to the Greek Orthodox culture.
With the transitional ‘Bridges’ organist / composer Berry van Berkum brings the audience again and again from one sphere to another.
